Build a funnel
Set up a whole journey: a capture page, a tag and a series of emails that go out on their own.
A funnel is a journey in one place: a page where people sign up, a tag that groups them, and a series of emails that follow. Use one to welcome new leads, deliver a free guide or follow up after a purchase. Each person goes through a funnel once.
Create a funnel
- Open Marketing > Email > Funnels and press New funnel.
- Under What’s your goal?, pick one: Welcome, Make money, Nurture, Deliver a freebie, Event registration, Re-engage, Abandoned cart, Purchase follow-up or Start from scratch.
- Give it a Funnel name. Pick the tag everyone who comes through gets. You can also add a pipeline, so each sign-up appears as a card there.
- Press Create funnel. Nothing sends yet.
Make it yours, then turn it on
- On the Emails tab, read and edit every email. For each one, choose After a delay (minutes, hours or days after someone joins, optionally at a time like 9:00 AM) or On a specific date. Press Send test to me to check it.
- On the Pages tab, check the capture page if the goal made one.
- Flip Turn on. Emails start going out.
The tabs
- Emails: the emails, their timing, and what starts the funnel (like When a tag is added).
- Setup: the name, tag and pipeline. Pages: the journey’s pages, in order.
- People: everyone in it and their next email. Press Enroll people to add someone by hand.
- Results: how the funnel is doing.
Good to know
- A tag only starts a funnel at the moment it’s added. People who had the tag before you turned the funnel on aren’t in it. Press Enroll the already tagged to add them.
- Want a group kept out? Add their tag under Stop sending if this tag is added. Anyone who already has that tag is never enrolled.
- A funnel enrolls each person once. To send someone the whole series again, press Start again on their row in People.
- If a row says it could not send, fix the email address in Contacts, press Remove on that row and enroll them again.
- Archive keeps the funnel and its records but stops its emails. Delete funnel removes it for good. Your pages stay either way.
