Write blog posts
Write and publish posts on your website's blog so people can find you on Google.
Your website has a blog built in. Regular posts about your classes, retreats and practice are one of the best ways to get found in search. Posts live at your site’s address followed by /blog.
Open your blog
- Open Website > My pages.
- Scroll to the bottom and open Built-in pages.
- On the Blog card, press Manage blog posts.
Write a post
- Press New post.
- Type a title, then write your post in the big box. A blank line starts a new paragraph. Wrap words in double stars (**like this**) for bold. Start a line with ## for a heading.
- Press Preview to see how it reads. Press Edit to go back.
- Under Web address, set the last part of the post’s link (for example, spring-retreat-recap).
- Write a Meta description: one or two sentences, about 150 to 160 characters, that show in search results.
- Add Keywords, separated by commas.
- Upload a Featured image.
- Press Publish. To keep working on it first, press Save instead. It stays a draft until you publish.
Bring in a post you already wrote
Press Import file on the blog list and pick a text file (.md) or a web page file (.html). A text file fills the editor so you can keep editing. A web page file keeps its exact design.
Good to know
- Drafts are not visible on your site. Published posts update the moment you press Save.
- To take a post down, open it and press Unpublish. To remove it for good, press Delete post at the bottom.
- Each post’s web address has to be unique. If two posts share one, you’ll be asked to change it.
- Built your site with a design that has its own menu? Point one of its links at your blog: open the page’s Links on Website > My pages and choose Opens the blog.
- Colibri can write a post for you. Ask for one, and it saves the post here as an unpublished draft for you to read, change and publish. See Ask Colibri for help.
