Enroll students by hand

Sometimes people should get a course without going through checkout: students you’re bringing over from another platform, a scholarship, a gift. You can enroll them yourself, one at a time or in bulk.

Steps

1. Open Selling > Courses and click the course.
2. Scroll down to the Students card.
3. Choose how to add people:
   • Add students: pick One person and enter their email and name, or pick Many at once and paste a list, one email per line (names are optional). Click Enroll.
   • Import CSV: upload a spreadsheet with an email column. A name column, or first and last name columns, comes across too.
   • Add by tag: pick a tag from your contacts. Before anything is added, you see how many tagged contacts have an email and how many are already enrolled.
4. They’re enrolled right away and show in the list, with the date and their progress.
5. Tell them how to get in. They go to your site’s /students page, enter their email and type in the 6-digit code that arrives. There’s no password. The exact address is shown on the Students card.

Good to know

• Nothing is charged and no email is sent when you enroll someone by hand. Let them know yourself, for example with a newsletter. See Write and send a newsletter.
• Someone already enrolled is left as they are. A cancelled or unpaid place is opened again.
• Add by tag only reaches contacts who have an email address.
