Release course modules over time
Hold back course modules so they open a set number of days after someone enrolls, or on a date for everyone.
Instead of opening the whole course on day one, you can release modules over time. There are two ways: a number of days after each person enrolls, or a calendar date that’s the same for everyone.
Steps
- Open Selling > Courses and click the course.
- Under Curriculum, click the pencil on the module’s row. Edit module opens.
- Choose how the module opens:
- Unlocks after: enter a number of days after someone enrolls. For a new module each week, use 0, 7, 14 and 21 on modules one to four. Each person’s clock starts when they enroll.
- Release date (optional): pick a date, then a time. The module stays locked for everyone until that moment, no matter when they bought.
- Click Save. The module’s row shows a badge, so you can see at a glance that it’s held back.
- Repeat for each module you want to hold back.
What students see
Students see the titles of locked modules in their classroom, so they know what’s coming. The lessons, files and quiz inside stay closed until the module opens.
Good to know
- 0 days means the module opens right away.
- Set both and whichever comes later wins. That covers “a week after they join, but never before launch day.”
- Release dates use your workspace timezone, set under Scheduling > 1:1 Booking > Availability.
- To open a module again, click Clear next to its release date, or set the days back to 0.
- Want to hide a module completely while you build it? Switch Published off in Edit module. Students don’t see it at all, and its lessons don’t count toward their progress.
