Use the Getting started checklist

Work through the setup steps one at a time, each in the section where it belongs.

Getting started is a short checklist of the things most businesses set up first. Each step takes you to the part of ColibriOS where that thing lives, so you learn your way around as you go.

Steps

  1. Click Getting started at the top of the menu.
  2. The first time, you’ll see Welcome. First, the basics. Type your business name and at least one way to reach you (address, phone or email). Add your logo if you like, then press Continue. These details go on your invoices, receipts, emails and site.
  3. Work down the list. The steps are:
    • Put your business into words: your Business Blueprint, five short questions.
    • Decide what goes on your site: pick a template, import the site you have, have Colibri build one new, or skip the website and just share your booking and checkout links.
    • Your web address: your site already has a free address. Buy or connect a name of your own whenever you’re ready.
    • Send newsletters from your own domain: see Send email from your own domain.
    • Get a texting number: see Text your contacts.
    • Bring your people in: import your contacts.
    • Add what you offer: a 1:1 session, a gathering or class, a course or a product.
    • Set up your banking: add the account your business money runs through.
  4. Press the button on a step to jump to the right page. A bar across the top of the page shows which step you’re on, offers the next one, and has a Back to Getting started link.
  5. Not ready for a step? Press Not now to set it aside. Press Put it back to return it to your list.

Good to know

  • Steps tick themselves off. ColibriOS checks what you’ve actually set up, so anything you did earlier already shows as Done.
  • Each step shows To do, In progress, Done or Set aside. The web address and email steps can sit at In progress for a few hours while your domain settings update. Carry on with the rest in the meantime.
  • Steps your plan doesn’t include appear under Also available on other plans and don’t count toward your total.
  • Need to fix your business details? Press Edit details at the bottom of the checklist.
  • A Finish setting up your workspace card on your Dashboard shows how far you’ve got, until every step is done or set aside.
  • Stuck on a step? Ask Colibri, the helper in the corner of every page, or open a support ticket.
