Tips and scholarship donations at checkout

Let people add an optional tip or a scholarship donation when they pay for a gathering or a 1:1 session.

When people pay online, you can offer them a chance to add a little extra. Call it a tip, a scholarship donation, a gift to the land fund, whatever fits your work.

Steps for a gathering

  1. Open Scheduling > Gatherings, click the gathering, then click Edit.
  2. Make sure it’s a paid gathering. The tip option only shows when Charge for this gathering is on or the gathering has pricing tiers.
  3. Switch on Allow a tip or donation at checkout.
  4. Choose Amounts offered:
    • Tip style offers 10%, 15% or 20% of what is due, or a custom amount.
    • Donation style offers three set amounts, or a custom amount.
  5. In What it is called, type the name people will see, like “Scholarship donation” (up to 40 characters). Leave it blank and it reads Tip or Scholarship donation, depending on the style.
  6. Optional: add One line under it, such as “It goes toward helping someone else attend.”
  7. Click Save changes.

Steps for a 1:1 session

  1. Open Scheduling > 1:1 Booking and click the pencil on a paid session type.
  2. Switch on Allow tips at checkout, then click Save changes.

What people see

On the pay page they’re asked “Add a tip?” (or the name you chose), with the choices and a way to skip it. Whatever they add shows as its own line on their receipt, named the way you named it.
