Connect Stripe to take card payments
Connect your own Stripe account so clients can pay by card, and the money goes straight to you.
To take card payments for tickets, bookings, courses, shop orders and invoices, connect your own Stripe account. Payments go straight into your Stripe account, and from there to your bank. ColibriOS takes no cut of your bookings.
Steps
- Open Settings > Payments.
- On the Card, Klarna, Afterpay, Affirm and Cash App card, press Connect Stripe.
- Stripe opens. Sign in to the Stripe account you already have, or create a new one. Stripe asks for your business details and the bank account where you want your payouts.
- When you finish, you come back to ColibriOS.
- The card shows Connected, finishing setup while Stripe checks your details. If Stripe still needs something, press Continue Stripe setup.
- When it says Connected and ready to accept payments, you’re done. Paid checkouts now take cards.
Good to know
- The money is yours from the start. It lands in your own Stripe account, and Stripe pays it out to your bank on its usual schedule. Payout timing and Stripe’s own processing fees are set by Stripe, in your Stripe dashboard.
- ColibriOS doesn’t add a fee on top of your bookings or sales.
- Connect Stripe before you open paid tickets, so people can pay by card the moment they sign up.
- Once Stripe is ready, a Let buyers pay over time card appears under it, for Klarna, Afterpay, Affirm and Zip. See Let buyers pay over time.
- PayPal can’t be connected right now. Card and the buy-now-pay-later options above all go through Stripe.
- Clients who’d rather pay by Zelle, Venmo, Cash App or cash can do that too. See Take Zelle, Venmo, Cash App, cash or checks.
- To give card money back, refund it in your Stripe dashboard. Then open the invoice in ColibriOS and press Record refund so your reports stay right.
- Seeing Connected, finishing setup for a long time? Open your Stripe dashboard and look for any steps it’s still asking for, then come back to Settings > Payments.
