Let buyers pay over time (Klarna, Afterpay, Affirm, Zip)

Offer Klarna, Afterpay, Affirm and Zip at checkout so buyers can split the cost while you're paid in full.

Buy now, pay later lets a buyer split the cost of a retreat, course or package into smaller payments. You’re paid in full straight away. The provider carries the instalments, so the waiting is theirs, not yours. It works on purchases that go through Stripe, like invoices, tickets, courses, bookings and shop orders.

Steps

  1. Connect Stripe first. See Connect Stripe to take card payments.
  2. Open Settings > Payments. Once Stripe is ready, the Let buyers pay over time card appears.
  3. Press Turn them on in Stripe. Your Stripe dashboard opens on its payment methods page.
  4. In Stripe, switch on the ones you want: Klarna, Afterpay, Affirm and Zip.
  5. Back in ColibriOS, press Check with Stripe.
  6. Each method shows its status: On, Stripe is reviewing, Not on or Not checked yet. The ones that say On now appear at your checkout for eligible amounts.

The four options

  • Klarna: pay in 4, or over longer for bigger amounts.
  • Afterpay: four payments, every two weeks.
  • Affirm: monthly payments on larger amounts.
  • Zip: four payments, every two weeks.

Good to know

  • ColibriOS only offers the methods Stripe says are on for your account. Offering one that isn’t approved would stop card payments too, so it never does.
  • Each provider sets its own minimum and maximum amount, and availability depends on the buyer’s country. A buyer only sees the options that fit their purchase.
  • Stripe takes its fee for these, as it does for cards. Fees are set by Stripe and shown in your Stripe dashboard.
  • If Stripe is still reviewing a method, check back later and press Check with Stripe again.
  • This is different from a payment plan you run yourself, where you collect a first payment and wait for the rest. See Payment plans you run.
